What an amazing weekend! Using the 7 spheres of rest as our framework we moved beyond the words and immersed ourselves into the felt experience of radical resting. Away from the world we wove our sacred space into life - it was one of my most potent and beautiful offerings to date. I could say more but for now just feast your eyes on the stunning captures by @unfurl.photography ✨

A well positioned spontaneous pose - a lucky shot. That’s how I dismissed the compliments I was gifted when I shared this image in my stories.

Almost 5 decades in this body & mostly we are a good team but like every female I’ve ever met, my critique of myself is far harsher than anything I would inflict upon another living being.

I like this snap.

I think peak self-doubt coincides with key rites of passage - puberty, motherhood and now late perimenopausal. And so if history serves me right, I’ll come out of this transitional space with more love & more respect for this beautiful body (and a whole lot of less f**ks!).

I actually think we need to experience all the feelings we do about our bodies but allow ourselves to detach and move through them without creating fixed narratives that anchor us to harm. When we naturally move through our lives we are given the very essence of how to do this.

Living life as it is.

Almost 50 - no piercings, no tattoos, no cosmetic procedures or dental modifications. This is not a critique of others but a declaration of self 🔥

Rest is a powerful ally.

I’ve shared recently with my nearest & dearest about my strange struggles with anxiety (which I believe is very much linked to my declining estrogen). It’s wild to feel these waves of anxiety when I’ve never felt so connected to myself.

I’m not after a “fix” at the mo, I’m riding this wave to see where it takes me. Sharing as I go.

Things that are helping me - dialing in my sleep, meditation (5mins each morning is all!), tending my soul, foundational movement (I’ve taken my foot right off the gas with intensity & I’m on “chopping wood & carrying water”) 💪🏼

2026 is building pace and I’m moving to my own beat.

I took a day for myself. Time to be. I cried. I laughed. I felt the joy and the sadness of it all. But it was the woman further down the line who said “I wish I were you” and I realised that my very best version of me is right here, right now.

Celebrating all I have and all I am.

In a world driven to divide us across all aspects of our lives, the female midlife transition has become a hot bed of feisty fanatics, ardent advocates & so much negativity. Once again, the waters are being whipped into a frothy fury and what once was a deeply significant human & soul journey is being overly medicalised and radicalised.

Why can we not take the wisdom of our ancient selves and combine that with the innovations and technological advancements of the modern world? Why can we not find the ease of that middle way, that mid line equilibrium? Because, perhaps, that’s not divisive enough and doesn’t give the strange satisfaction we seem to seek of indisputable truth, of absolute fact. Maybe?

Surely, it’s time for those of us traversing our midlife to take back ownership of our own path. But in doing so facing the fear of swimming against a powerful spring tide, of becoming the witch in the woods…...

Perhaps if we can just stand still long enough to hear our own heart beat and our own breath flow we may just connect to the roots that have carried us this far in life. Seeking solace in our own silence, far from the madding crowd, a place where we can start to hear our own voice once more.

it’s not about disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.

At almost 49 I find myself being asked to hold on to my sense of self in a way that only true transformative energy does.

Strength is required, not one of force and overpowering in nature but the type of strength that asks you to confront your fears, your doubts and raw emotions with a quiet compassionate grace and patience. As your confidence wavers can you find the inner strength to persevere through this tricky yet transformative time?

Perimenopause is so much more than protein, resistance training or supplement protocols. It’s a rite of passage. Let’s behave accordingly.

We created a women’s gathering using the traditional tools of movement, heat, cold, food and good conversation to reconnect with ourselves and each other.

The mobility session opened up our bones, the heat of the sauna soothed our muscles, the cold plunge reinvigorated our metabolism, the food nourished us and the heart-felt circular conversations around our midlife transition reminded us that we all hold the wisdom 💫

Just as the heat softens the body, the cold sharpens the spirit. As we sweat together, the layers fall from us and presence arrives. The resilience evoked by plunging into the cool waters empowers us to embrace natural discomfort, bring us back into our bodies and clearing our minds.

The ancient rituals surrounding the communal gathering at the sauna along with the supported cold plunge are more than physical practices – they remind us of the expansion and contraction of life, the intensity and the stillness, the powerful rhythm of being a female human on this earth.

One of the best things about this time in my life is that I am truly worrying less about things that used to consume me. I’m not going to claim that I don’t sweat the small stuff anymore but slowly I can feel myself being released from the iron clad grip of previous fears, doubts and anxieties that ruled my world in my teens, twenties and thirties.

When estrogen starts her swan song so many complex things can and do happen but one of the best ones is you simple don’t give as many f**ks or spend as much time ruminating over other people and your imaginings about what they do or do not think about you (because it’s all made up in your head!).

Each lap offering us a new depth, a deeper understanding, a bigger capacity to open our heart.

As we moved today we talked, we spoke into story, experiences, and our desire to go within, to find the gems we need to move better (not just physically) in this world. To listen to the wisdom shared was such an honour - to me, all this is sacred work now. Personal Trainer in Melbourne or Shaman in Peru, it’s all the same if intention is there. If that energy moves my spirit and ignites my soul, it’s all the same.

Not many will understand this 👆🏼as it’s my path, my Rising Fierce.

I believe in being ready. In a proactive path. In falling and getting up. In learning & absorbing what is there for me. In other women (more than anything I believe in you).

This IS the walked path of Rising Fierce. Faith and trust 🙏🏻

Beyond anything else I’m a woman navigating my own path in this thing called life and it’s time I became a willing agent of spirit, of that force far beyond what my mind can conceive but my body knows. I’ve stared this year by purposefully allowing gaps in my world & sitting back allowing things to happen without me forcing or forging ahead. It’s actually very uncomfortable. I have such a need to “know” (to organise / control) and it’s shaped my whole existence to this point……..but now I’m trying something new. Let’s see how long I last 😂

I have a sister wound story I’ve been carrying but I’m surrounded by a small potent tribe of loyal, loving women (some I never see as we live far apart, some I’ve never met as our connection has been online, some I get to hang out with & hug 💗). I want to say thank-you to those women who see me, who listen, laugh and cry with me and encourage me to be me. I see you too & I adore you. I’m devoted to our time together be that for a season, a reason or a lifetime.

I have a sister wound story I’ve been carrying but I’m surrounded by a small potent tribe of loyal, loving women (some I never see as we live far apart, some I’ve never met as our connection has been online, some I get to hang out with & hug 💗). I want to say thank-you to those women who see me, who listen, laugh and cry with me and encourage me to be me. I see you too & I adore you. Hear the voices of our foremothers.

Sometimes I doubt the path I’ve taken, this path of Rising Fierce. When it aligns it’s beautiful & powerful however life is unruly & wild, she asks not to be confined to the narrow restrictions of a neatly manicured garden with no resistance or rugged terrain. She reminds you that you are indeed human, flawed, perhaps a touch fragile. She asks that you tread more consciously on your path, that you allow all of you to be there.

I feel like I stand on the thresholds of two distinct spaces, of older wisdom and future thinking. I stand conflicted between two worlds, two ways of thinking. I dance more on one side, then the other. I’m conflicted one day and clear the next.

The message of late has been of stillness, patience and surrender to the unknown. I keep pushing against these, so kicks in the “equal and opposite” and the dance continues.

Your perspective of perimenopause will be according to where you are. A practitioners position, & their opinion, is only ever from the viewpoint of where they stand. An interactive, aware, life is glorious as it allows us to shift position, to move to a different viewpoint. As we walk further along a path suddenly our perspective can shift. If we cross the valley we get a completely different perspective. We may weave our way back to familiar ground but we return with new knowledge and fresh wisdom.
From where I stand now I will die on the hill of strength training for women through my lens of Rising Fierce however I remain humbly aware that it’s not a vantage point which everyone shares. And I honour that. I remain open to meandering through this terrain with curiosity and compassion. I hope you can too 🙏🏻

How do you feel? How is your body, your mind and your soul responding to what you are doing? Is it working for you now at this time?

Cold water exposure is another hot topic in women’s health where dualities are drawn but really we, the women, need to hold the tension of the middle path.

Lots of research citing huge health benefits across the board - limited studies for women and what there is shows is that we don’t need ice cold water and anything from 5-15 degrees elicits the responses that work for us (hence why women have always gathered at rivers, lochs and seasides to immerse into the healing waters since the dawn of time - we’ve always known this wisdom).

Cold water exposure will potentially assist with inflammation & anxiety which are leading characters in our midlife dance. For me, that is enough to get me to the waters edge. What makes me go in is soul led. It’s beyond grit or resilience (bit parts!). I go in and there I find stillness, presence and me.

Working the midline in midlife is key, not dancing in the extremes as the pendulum will swing just as far in the opposite direction creating more chaos. Apply this wisdom liberally to all programs and protocols and you might just find the magic of these years ✨
